Taking the proven concept of a Parabolic Leaf Spring, OME have reimagined the design alongside the development of a new market leader Air Bag Kit. The OME team are proud to deliver a truly engineered and integrated Parabolic Leaf Spring and Air Bag system that is both purposeful and safe for the vehicle.
Extensive chassis simulations and testing were carried out to determine the most appropriate solution for the LandCruiser 70 Series and allows the driver to choose a comfortable and suitable Parabolic Leaf spring for their everyday weight, whilst using the Air Bag to accommodate up to 600kg of additional weight.
All while being fully integrated and distributing the additional load to designated areas of the chassis in a safe and calculated way.
It is extremely important to stay within the vehicle's axle capacities and the overall permissible Gross Vehicle Mass (GVM) of that vehicle.

While both are quite similar in overall shape, a parabolic spring has fewer leaves and tapers at each end compared to a multi leaf spring which features multiple leaves and has a step-down effect with each leaf being progressively shorter than the one above.


The additional comfort achieved by a parabolic leaf spring is due to its ability to flex at a smoother rate and having the second stage removed is unmatched for a leaf sprung ute and will completely change the way the vehicle rides.

It is important to note that due to the 2nd stage being removed on a parabolic leaf spring, the Air Bag Kit is a mandatory fitment to ensure vehicle driveability & durability. ARB will not warrant issues arising from a parabolic leaf spring fitment with no ARB Air Bag Kit installed.

SELECTING THE RIGHT OPTION

Through an increase in steel grade and a reduction in overall leaf springs, a parabolic leaf spring system is significantly lighter than the equivalent multi leaf selection. This makes them easier and safer to install and reduces the overall GVM of the vehicle.
Selecting a Parabolic Leaf Spring option is the same as selecting a tradition multi leaf spring option. Choose the option that is closest to the full time, everyday weight in the vehicle that is unlikely to change. This ensures the vehicle is correctly sprung to maintain height, control and comfort while the vehicle is in use.
 
Adding the Air Bag kit will provide the vehicle with the capability to carry an additional 600kg (300kg on each Air Bag) in variable weight by adjusting the pressure from 0psi ÔÇô 45psi (maximum pressure).
It is essential we choose the right spring option for the weight of the vehicle and the Air Bag Kit is only used for when adding additional weight. The chassis is designed to take majority of the load through the leaf spring hangers and while constant load is handled through these points, variable load is now catered for through the Air Bags and the mounting brackets.
